For this assignment, I was given an article and was tasked with creating an appealing illustration that visually represented it. The article I was given was titled “I Don’t Need Community” And Other Lies I Once Believed”. The author of this article talked about the need for community, especially in the church, and how her prior views of community were false.
This article is geared towards young adults. While researching (and being a part of) this demographic, I found that bright colors and fun, abstract imagery would be appealing for my article. I saw lots of editorial spreads that had a unique layout that would take the viewer on a journey- this is something I decided to incorporate into my final illustration as well.
